Amid a host of delays and BTS drama, the latest news confirms that Yellowstone season 5 part 2 has begun filming. Still hoping to hit the ambitious November 2024 release window, the hit neo-Western returned to set in May 2024 to shoot the final handful of episodes. Despite conflicting reports, there has been no word about Kevin Costner's return to the series after his contentious exit, and it's highly likely that Yellowstone will conclude without John Dutton playing a major role.

The Yellowstone season 5, part 2 release window has been revealed as November 2024, over a year after it was originally pegged to premiere (though a specific date in its November 2024 window hasn't been disclosed). Paramount initially announced plans to release the 8-episode second part of Yellowstone season 5 in the summer of 2023, but those fell through.

Part 1 of season 5 also began airing its eight episodes in November 2022 and wrapped up in January 2023, and the break was only supposed to be for a few months. The Yellowstone season 5 part 2 filming delay caused by disputes between Kevin Costner pushed the release date back, with the since-resolved WGA and then SAG-AFTRA strikes delaying the final episodes of Yellowstone even further.

How Will The Dutton's Story End?

Yellowstone season 5, part 2 will be building towards the end of the show. Upon finding out about the Train Station in part 1, the first thing Beth does is to suggest to John that they need to kill Jamie, who, in turn, is conspiring with Sarah Atwood to make the first move. For the first time in the show, Yellowstone season 5, part 2 could see the Duttons fighting without Rip by their side, as Rip leads the ranch hands' journey with the cattle to Texas — possibly connecting the main series to the upcoming 6666 spinoff.

Meanwhile, with Jamie's impeachment attempt against John hanging over the governor's head, John Dutton's conservation easem*nt plan for the ranch could get overtaken by Jamie and Sarah's schemes to commercialize the property. Broken Rock representatives Chief Thomas Rainwater, Mo, and Angela Blue-Thunder could still turn the tide, depending on how the Duttons' plans could affect the federal government running a pipeline through the reservation. It sets the stage for an epic end to Yellowstone where there will surely be many casualties by the time season 5 part 2 concludes.
