If you’ve had to cancel your wedding because of the coronavirus pandemic, then nothing should be missing the next time, when you finally get to say “I do”. So if you are planning a wedding for 2021 and still don’t have any idea how it will look, you definitely shouldn’t miss these trends for 2021.

Wedding clothes

Boho chic
This trend has already been around for several years – and with good reason. Boho brides are relaxed and unconventional. The look can be playful, sexy and feminine.
Simple dresses
Low-cut backs and gently flowing dresses have been in the spotlight in recent years. Over the coming year, things may take a more traditional and elegant turn once again. Simple, expressive wedding dresses just work still.
Jumpsuits and trouser suits
Entirely on-trend brides will be wearing a jumpsuit or trousers with a matching top. A slim or wide fit works equally well.
Have a look at all the wedding dress trends for 2021.

Decor

The new year is characterised by a trend for less ostentatious decor. The focus is onsustainability– and not just because we want to help the environment, but also because it is beautiful.
Flowers
Of course, you need a bridal bouquet – of that, there’s no question. But does this always need to be fresh flowers? The answer is no. Dried flowers don’t just look beautiful; the bride can keep these for the rest of her life and always be reminded of the best day of her life.
Potted plants
Instead of cutting ever more flowers, consider using potted plants. You can arrange these beautifully and keep on using them once the celebrations are over. A really lovely idea would be to give plants to your guests that they can keep. This means guests will have great memories of the party, and the potted plants will have a new home.
Other natural touches
Give your creativity free rein. You can use pieces of wood that you find in your garden or in forests, for example. These can be used to great effect as table number holders.
You can also collect twigs, leaves and moss. These can be arranged in baskets or placed on the tables directly, and tea lights add the finishing touches.

Sustainable weddings

You really can’t ignore the trend for sustainability this year. But don’t worry, because sustainability doesn’t mean going without. We show you some great tricks to make your sustainable wedding a real hit.
Generally, getting a range of quotes from local providers is a good experience. This is also the first step towards a sustainable event.
You can use biodegradable confetti. Use cloth napkins; these should definitely be available to order via your catering service. Depending on how close the topic is to your heart, try to have plastic-free wedding celebrations right from the start.
A sustainable wedding does not mean that you have to be perfect all of the time. Awareness is what’s important – and if your guests get the message, this is an even more important and bigger step.

Micro-weddings

2020 showed that intimate weddings are not only possible but actually something really special. A wedding with just a really small group of parents, siblings and witnesses actually can’t go wrong. Anyone who thinks this sounds boring has been misled. Because fewer guests actually means even more possibilities. Spend your budget on a culinary highlight. A little magic show makes proceedings even more exciting. Or fly a small group to the most wonderful places in the world, provided this is allowed in the new year.

Elopement

Those who like things even smaller should not miss the trend for elopements. This is a wedding ceremony where only the bridal couple are present. An elopement makes it clear that this is just about two people’s love for one another, and absolutely nothing else. This also means you can use your budget in an entirely different way. How about a long luxury holiday once the ceremony is over?

Trending colours for 2021

Autumn colours are actually rather on trend this spring. Dark brown and dark red are the top colours. These can also be beautifully combined. Dresses, skirts and jackets look great in these dark colours.
Summer will then be even friendlier and finally playful again. The colour pink will be everywhere once summer comes around. Light summer clothes and tops will give women a sweet and feminine look.
The much-loved colour of teal will be back once again in the autumn. Trousers, coats and hats in this wonderful shade of blue suit every guy.
In winter, you can enjoy the striking, jazzy colour orange. A stronger orange suits darker skin tones, and more of a pastel shade of orange is just the thing for lighter skin tones.
