I can’t beleive I found this recipe for La Choy Hamburger Chop Suey. I made this recipe for years (using cut up pork) and my family loved it. I have been searching for the La Choy Brown Gravy used in this recipe for a couple of years and have been unable to find it in any stores in my area. I’ll check LaChoy to see they are still making it. This is a wonderful recipe and easy to make. I’m so happy I found this website. Thanks.

My mother used to make this recipe all the time. I make it too but it seems like LaChoy no longer manufactures the Brown Gravy Sauce. This sauce was sweet and in its replacement I use molasses. The taste is very similar. It works for me :)

Good call, Taja7878! I’ve been researching, trying to find a home recipe for LaChoy Brown Gravy Sauce, which isn’t being produced anymore. Several sources, including LaChoy, say to put either 1 tsp or 1/2 tsp of soy sauce in 1/2 cup of dark corn syrup or molasses. Just thought I’d share!

I am so happy I found this! I used to have the clipping from the back of one of the Chop Suey veg cans and lost it but been dying to make this again…I am so happy!

It’s a cold wet snowy night but gonna be hot and hopping in my house tonite!

I use Dynasty Brand. Some store carries the dynasty brown gravy sauce and it’s just as good as LaChoy but it too is also getting hard to find. You can order on line but s/s is costly.

My mom made this too, but she used bead molasses instead of gravy mix. Good luck trying to find bead molasses anywhere except the interweb.

I always used La chop brown gravy sauce and you can’t buy it so years ago I bought Dynasty brown gravy sauce and it is just like using La chops and I have a hard time finding it as I used to get it on line from Walmarts and now I can’t so you go Amazon and order it on line . Or my sister friend can get it at a chinese store…

I am 76 years old and made this a lot as a newlywed. We loved it, and I will make it again. The recipe I used was on the can of La Choy bean sprouts and was this one exactly.

My mom always made something like this she called Sweet And Sour. Served over rice with the crunchy noodles on top. The La Choy can of veggies she used already had the celery in it. No mushroom or baby corn. The recipe also had pineapple in it. The last time I can remember being able to buy the can of La Choy vegetables was in the early 90’s. Anyone know what I am talking about??
